Chelsea Green is currently one of the most famous female wrestlers outside of WWE. She is mainly seen in Impact Wrestling alongside Devna Purrazzo and occasionally with her real life partner Matt Cardona (fka Zack Ryder). Although she is doing well now, Green suffered some setbacks during her time with the Stamford-based promotion.
After failing to win the sixth season of Tough Enough, Green took a promotion trial and was signed in August 2018. She debuted in NXT at a live event in October of the same year. Unfortunately, he sustained an injury during the March 2019 NXT taping and was sidelined until June.
After spending some time with the developmental brand and appearing at the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble, she was called to SmackDown the same year. His first match at the Blue Brand was a fatal four-way qualifying match that earned him a place in that year’s Survivor Series squad.
She went up against Tamina, Natalya and Liv Morgan. The plan was for Green to win the match, but he suffered a wrist injury and Morgan emerged as the winner.
The above fight was his last appearance for the promotion, as he was released in April 2021 after months of inactivity.
WWE reportedly interested in bringing back Chelsea Green
The 31-year-old has kept himself busy outside of WWE since leaving the company last year. Meanwhile, his recent work has caught the attention of his former publicity.
As reported by WrestleVotes, the Stamford-based company is interested in getting him back on the main roster.
“I’ve been told there’s another name that WWE has significant interest in bringing back, is Chelsea Green. I think if a deal is offered, it’s up to the main roster. Time will tell.”
For now, there is still no guarantee that the star will return to WWE in the coming months. It will be interesting to see what happens next for the former Impact Knockout champion.
