Why did Toni Storm leave WWE?

Toni Storm is currently in her first reign as the AEW Interim Women’s World Champion. Storm won the title at the All Out pay-per-view event on September 4, 2022, after a fatal four-way match, which also involved Dr. Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter, and Hikaru Shida.

For those who are not familiar with Toni Storm’s pro wrestling career, the 27 year old is a former WWE Superstar. The New Zealand-Australian pro wrestler performed for the Stamford-based promotion from 2017 to 2021.

His WWE departure sparked controversy and generated a lot of buzz on the internet. According to the former NXT UK Women’s Champion, WWE’s busy schedule had left her exhausted and this led to her exit from the company. He also believed that WWE did not care about him.

“They don’t care so why should I? It’s not going to work. I know what’s going to happen here. I’m just going to be sent back to catering again. I’m not going to be successful here.” I can just see… I thought my whole purpose in life was to go to WWE, but over time I’ve realized that it’s just pro wrestling that I love. This is not a company I like pro wrestling with,” Tony Storm told Renee Paquette during her appearance on The Sessions podcast in June 2022.

The AEW star’s last WWE television appearance was on the 2021 Christmas Eve edition of SmackDown. She faced Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship, but fell short of capturing the title. He requested his release from WWE the following week, and his request was later granted.
