Welcome to another edition of the Top Raw Backstage Rumors That Could Possibly Make a Big Impact. In today’s edition, we will look at some interesting rumors revolving around the superstars of the RED brand, including Kevin Owens, Randy Orton and Triple H.
Randy Orton has been out since May with an injury. He was taken off television after the attack on The Bloodline. While he was originally set to take on Roman Reigns at SummerSlam, he is now expected to return next year. In addition, we’ll also take a look at WWE’s plans for Kevin Owens.
#3. Triple H has a ‘concrete plan’ for Kevin Owens
Former Universal Champion Kevin Owens is out of action on Raw. He was last seen in a six-man tag team match with Johnny Gargano and Drew McIntyre on the September 30 edition of SmackDown.
Although Owens still competes in WWE live events, his unexplained absence from Raw is, at least, a surprise. While many fans speculated that he might not be on management’s side, this was not the case, as was the case with Ringside News.
“Kevin Owens isn’t on television, but WWE hasn’t forgotten about him at all. In fact, he has solid plans for a return when the ‘time is right’.”
There were rumors that the company initially planned for Owens to be part of the Sami Zayn and Bloodline story. However, given the success of The Honorable Us, WWE has delayed moving The Usos with Owens and Zayn to a later date.
#2. Will Matt Riddle’s Randy Orton Return?
Randy Orton and Matt Riddle were the Raw Tag Team Champions before The Usos defeated them to unify the Tag Team Titles.
The Usos and Roman Reigns brutally attacked The Viper just after RK-Bro lost the gold. Orton was already battling some injuries and needed time for rehab. There is a possibility of a dispute with Riddle over his return.
“When Randy Orton went down, his plan was to come back and turn on Matt Riddle immediately,” WrestleVotes told Givemysport.
While Matt Riddle continues to respect his best friend Randy, most fans expect The Originals to turn on the brother when Viper returns. The two were well-liked as a tag team, and the pairing with Orton helped establish Riddle as a top card artist on Raw.
#1. Grayson Waller will get a push like Kevin Owens on Raw
NXT Superstar Grayson Waller made a few appearances on Raw during his feud with AJ Styles, but was not called up as expected.
The reason is that WWE ‘really likes’ him and is waiting for the right time to bring him on the main roster. According to WrestleVotes, the plan is to push him in the same way Kevin Owens was pushed in his feud against John Cena on Raw.
“WWE really likes Grayson Waller and really sees something in him. He might be down in NXT, just trying to figure out something big for him, like Kevin Owens coming in and defeating John Cena. They like him a lot, so he’s the kind of person they’d try to do something serious with,” WrestleVotes reported.
Waller has become one of NXT’s top stars. The 32-year-old is primed for big things as the WWE management seems to be behind him. It will be interesting to see when the company finally decides to pull the trigger on them.
