Drew McIntyre was reportedly “extremely ill” during his match against Carrion Cross at WWE Crown Jewel

Drew McIntyre was extremely ill before his steel cage match against Karian Cross at WWE Crown Jewel last Saturday.

Cross has targeted McIntyre since his return to World Wrestling Entertainment in August. The two clashed in a strap match at Extreme Rules. However, when Scarlett intervened and blinded the Scottish warrior,

it ended in a brawl, allowing her husband to pin her for victory. Last Saturday, McIntyre and Cross went head-to-head again inside a steel cage at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. This time, McIntyre emerged victorious out of the steel cage.

After the match, Mike Johnson of PW Insider reported that McIntyre was “extremely ill” ahead of Crown Jewel. Still, he insisted on competition.

“Word at tonight’s Crown Jewel PPV is that Drew McIntyre had been extremely ill with the flu for the past several days, but was still affected by his steel cage match with Karian Cross. McIntyre was adamant about what to do ‘He would get it in the ring and work and was able to do that today,” Johnson explained.

Is the Drew McIntyre and Carrion Cross rivalry over?
Speaking to WWE Digital Exclusive after his match against Carrion Cross at Crown Jewel, Drew McIntyre revealed that he knew he had to win the match to stay on track. He also revealed that he fell from a height higher than he wanted after watching his opponent exit the steel cage through the door.

The Scottish Warrior also stated that his rivalry with Cross is now over, before shouting to the Crown Jewel crowd.

“As far as I’m concerned [the rivalry is over], even the crowd can scream, it blows my mind. Wherever I travel in the world, the fans have patted my back,” he said. (1:06 – 1:16)
