Welcome to another edition of Sporstkeeda’s daily WWE news roundup; As always, we have compiled all the top stories from the world of pro wrestling.
The Royal Rumble is one of the biggest events of the year, and a top female star has come out and supported the Bloodline member to emerge as the #1 contender for the world championship.
We also have full details about what Brock Lesnar told Madcap Moss during a backstage conversation. A highly rated star has also recently returned five years after being released from the company.
On that note, let’s take a look at the trending stories of the day:
#1. Bayley wants Solo Sequoia to win the WWE Royal Rumble match
It’s still early days on Solo Sequoia’s main roster, and the latest addition to The Bloodline has already impressed many fans and pundits with their performances.
In an exclusive interview, Bailey recently spoke to Sportskeeda’s Riju Dasgupta and gave his advice to the 29-year-old star to win the Men’s Royal Rumble match next year.
While the Roman Reigns faction dominates the entire roster, there has recently been some tension between the stablemates, as seen in the latest SmackDown episode. Solo Sequoia is fast-tracked into the big leagues and has already proved that he has what it takes to work under Roman Reigns.
However, the potential storyline with a Royal Rumble win and Tribal Chief seems like an exciting proposition. Bailey also mentioned the name of Madcap Moss while talking about his favorite players to win the Rumble, as you can see below:
“I’m going to vote for Solo Sequoia because he’s incredible, and he’s on a high level right now,” Bailey said. “Him or Madcap Moss. It might as well be a good one.” [10:57 to 11:08]
There’s still a long way to go until WWE goes to WrestleMania 39, and like most years, Royal Rumble 2023 could have a few surprises. Could winning singles be one of them? Only time will tell.
#2. Madcap Moss opens up on his conversation with Brock Lesnar
The Beast Avatar is one of WWE’s most intimidating stars due to his on-screen reputation. However, Lesnar is clearly quite acceptable behind the scenes, as Madcap Moss learned in WWE.
The SmackDown star spoke to WWE – Die Woche and revealed that Lesnar once pulled him backstage and gave him some invaluable advice. Interestingly, when Lesnar and Moss went to the University of Minnesota they could relate to each other.
The former NXT star revealed that he never misses a chance to pick the brains of some of the WWE legends and also misses out on chatting with Randy Orton.
“To be able to share the ring and locker room with a guy like Randy Orton, anytime I get the chance; I’ll choose his mind. As much as he’s a dangerous, destruction machine, I really put Brock Lesnar on the sidelines Me.” We both went to the University of Minnesota, and of course, when he gave me advice, I listened. Those are just a couple examples. There are a lot of people in the locker room that I respect and listen to,” said Moss. [h/t fightful]
Madcap Moss has been one of the breakout singles stars of the year, and considering that he’s backed by Lesnar and other veterans, his WWE future looks incredibly bright.
#3. Emma returns to SmackDown
The WWE product under Triple H seems unpredictable again, with astonishing returns almost every other week. Emma (real name Tenille Dashwood) appeared on the most recent SmackDown episode and responded to an open challenge from Ronda Rousey.
Since her WWE release in 2017, Emma has worked for several companies and, notably, has had a memorable stint at Impact Wrestling. The Australian superstar fought her last match at the Impact Zone in July 2022 and was part of the free-agent market until her return to SmackDown.
Emma wrestled her first match on WWE TV in five years and thankfully was not booked for losing a one-sided match to Ronda Rousey. The former Impact Wrestling star put up a commendable fight until he was left with no option but to tap Rousey’s armbar.
The returning star may not have gotten much pop on SmackDown. However, she is still an excellent addition to the women’s division, and it will be interesting to see how the company uses her to move forward creatively.
Which wrestler does Bailey consider to be her lost brother? Find out here.
