What happened on WWE SmackDown this week?
This week’s show started with a face-off between Bray Wyatt and L.A. Knight. Knight challenged Wyatt to a match at the Royal Rumble, which the latter accepted. Uncle Howdy then came to the ring and applied The Eater of Worlds with Sister Abigail.
Solo Sequoia and Sheamus battled it out in an intense singles match. Sequoia picked up the win with a Samoan Spike. After the match, The Bloodline tried to cause more damage to The Brawling Brutes, but Drew McIntyre made his return and foiled their plans.
In another singles match, Raquel Rodriquez put up a valiant fight against Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. However, she could not win. After the match, Charlotte Flair returned and pushed Rousey for an immediate title defense. Rani defeated her rival to become the women’s champion for a record 14 times.
In another segment, Braun Strowman challenged Gunther to put the Intercontinental Championship on the line. The Ring General and the rest of the Imperium launched a three-on-one attack on Strowman. Armed with a steel chair, Ricochet ran to the middle and cleared the ring.
In the much-anticipated main event, Kevin Owens and John Cena teamed up to face Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn. Reigns and Zayn isolated Knockout for most of the match, preventing him from tagging in Cena.
However, when The Sensation Leader finally entered the match, he showed no signs of ring rust. Cena took care of Reigns with an AA, and Owens applied Honorary Use with a Stunner for the win.
